During Holy Week 2001 (the week before Easter) up
to 50 different children attended the Hot Cross Bun Club organised
and supervised by the Vicar, (Revd Ian Finn) and members of the
churches of the Bansfield Benefice. Children came from all seven
parishes and beyond to take part in activities based around the
themes of Holy Week. As usual the children met in Wickhambrook church
hall.
The Children made a series of banners depicting
the events of Holy Week. This one shows Pilate with Jesus after
his arrest
This banner depicts many of the major themes
of Holy Week, the donkey Jesus rode, the palms that were laid
at his feet and the three crucifixes where he was left to die
with two other men.
This banner celebrates the fact that Christ rose
from the dead on the third day, Easter Sunday.
This final poster shows Peter as a fisher of
men who took charge when Jesus ascended to God.
The children made a lovely Easter garden which
remained in church for the duration of the Easter season. It
shows the place where Jesus was crucified.
The children also made a number of posters
that were displayed in church, and added a welcome splash of
colour to the baptistery.
