Rural Dean's View - February 2013
Dear friends,
A new year of hope and opportunity lies ahead (in fact as you read this it may be the first month is past!).It's a chance to reflect on our lives and how we might do things differently for 2013.
Christmas brought good congregations in our churches on Christmas Eve alone we had over 100 people attending the service on Christmas morning.
The season of Lent begins this month, Ash Wednesday is 13th February. We place ashes on our foreheads during the service to remind us of our sinful nature, that we are but dust and ashes and at the end it is to the dust we return.
But with God in our lives we can find forgiveness and hope. Forgiveness for sins repented to be forgiven. Hope that when forgiven God will find us a place with Him in eternal life.
Repentance is the key for us - a rejection of our sinfulness and a turning around to follow God's way.
The Lenten call is this - turn back to God and His ways of love and forgiveness. It is only in His forgiveness that life will be lived to the full and in the hope of the Kingdom of Heaven.
God bless you this month.
