Phase 3 - Nave Roof
Phase 3 - Restoration of the nave roof
Work started on Phase 3 in October 2004 by R & J Hogg Ltd. This work
is confined to the main nave roof. The architect is Tony Redman of
the Whitworth Co-partnership.
The work undertaken includes: the reroofing of the nave and repairs
to its timbers, the removal of condemned electrical wiring and
repairs to the North East aisle window.
Below is a short gallery of photos taken during Phase 3
restoration. The photos were taken on the 16th October 2004 during
removal of tiles from the nave roof. The tiles themselves were
removed equally from both sides of the nave roof to keep the weight
and thus pressure even during the operation otherwise the roof
timbers could collapse. To see see further details please click on
